East Godavari: Chintala Naga Lakshmi, a native of Munipalli who was working in Kuwait, was reportedly prevented by her employers from returning to her hometown and was allegedly denied access to phone calls.

Her husband, Chintala Venkatesh, died of electrocution on Sunday. However, Naga Lakshmi was unable to return home to attend his last rites as her employers allegedly refused to let her leave. According to the reports, they demanded Rs. 3 lakh if she wanted to return to India.

Unable to bear the situation, Naga Lakshmi shared a video message appealing to Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh for help.

After learning about her plight, East Godavari District Collector Keerthi Chekuri and other officials intervened and made the necessary arrangements for her return to her hometown to perform her husband’s last rites.
