Halle Berry’s 13-year-old son allowed to testify in bitter custody battle
In a new update, TMZ has revealed that Halle Berry’s 13-year-old son, Maceo, will be allowed to take the stand in her bitter custody battle. According to the court documents obtained by the media outlet, the teenager was permitted to testify in the custody case between the actress and Olivier Martinez. However, there are conditions for him being allowed in court.

According to the report, the 13-year-old’s testimony will be “limited to the request for the issuance of a restraining order.” For those who are not familiar with the case, Olivier Martinez requested a domestic violence restraining order, claiming Halle Berry attacked their son during an argument while he was playing a virtual reality video game.
He alleges Halle jumped on Maceo, put her hands around his neck, and choked him. However, the actress has vehemently denied she hurt their son. Olivier Martinez is now seeking sole custody of Maceo and has asked the court to order Halle Berry to stay away. Meanwhile, she has urged the court not to allow their son to testify.
Halle Berry doesn’t want her son to testify in court
While the court has permitted Maceo to testify, Halle Berry has been trying to keep the court from allowing the 13-year-old to take the stand. She has alleged that her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, has been coaching him on what to say. The publication has also obtained Halle’s response to Olivier’s domestic violence restraining order (DVRO) request and stated that Maceo has a “personal interest in minimizing his own conduct and shifting responsibility to others.”
She has claimed that the court can’t necessarily assume that the 13-year-old’s account is reliable. Halle Berry has further asserted that she has been concerned about their son for years. The actress alleged that Olivier Martinez was getting their son involved in adult arguments, claiming their dynamic has made her the rule enforcer while Olivier gets to be the chill parent.
Halle Berry further alleged that the pressure of being a strict parent is always on her, which has caused Maceo to view her as the “bad guy” and her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, as the “good guy” for allowing him to have “greater autonomy.” The actress has expressed that she is worried that this dynamic will influence Maceo’s testimony to reflect “perceptions developed over time” rather than an accurate account of what happened.

However, it seems that, for now, the court is siding with Olivier Martinez and allowing Maceo to testify. The judge did note that any testimony from the 13-year-old will be in a closed courtroom with only the parties, counsel, and court personnel present. It was only a few days ago that the actress claimed that she has time-stamped video proof of the incident, which shows that she never laid a hand on Maceo to harm him.
She did admit that they were ‘roughhousing’ like they usually do. However, denied any allegations of ever harming Maceo.
