Strictly Come Dancing contestant Will Best has become a father for the first time and revealed the little one’s name in a sweet post uploaded to social media on Thursday
Will Best has become a dad for the first time. The TV presenter, 41, who is perhaps best known for fronting Big Brother but is also currently competing on Strictly Come Dancing, is engaged to fashion stylist Tobi Rose and took to social media on Thursday to reveal they had welcomed their first child together.
The star posted a video to Instagram, where he said: “So I got this really cool new thing today, lots of people get them but they are pretty cool,” and at that panned the camera down to show the little one in his arms as he smiled.
In the caption of the post, Will revealed the baby’s name, writing: “Well who do we have here then?! Welcome to the world Sonny Best, you little smasher. @tobiroseofficial you’re a miracle and I love you so much. A couple of tired new parents (see last slide) but oh my goodness aren’t we lucky xxx.”
Will’s Strictly partner Diane Buswell was one of the first to send her congratulations, shortly after she and Joe Sugg became parents themselves. She said: “yay, I’m so happy for you and Tob. And Bowie is so excited to meet little Sonny.”
Former X Factor star Fleur East said: “Aww yayy!! Welcome Sonny Besty! So excited for you. Congratulations to you and Tobi. Hope you’re all doing well. Go and smash it on that ballroom floor for your little family.”
Josh Widdicombe, who, along with Emma Willis and Johannes Radebe, took over from Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly as Strictly Come Dancing hosts this year, said: “Holy moly!!! Congratulations, mate!”
Meanwhile, Strictly pro Amy Dowden wrote: “Massive congratulations,” and added a series of blue heart emojis.
It’s just under a month since Will revealed that he and Tobi were expecting their firs child together. In mid-September, Will shared a bunch of photos from the summer including one of him and Tobi standing in front of a mirror.
Tobi was wearing a matching outfit that showed off her baby bump and Will took the photo with his hand on her stomach. In the caption, he said: “Baby, Will?!”
He then added another picture of Tobi’s stomach with his hand on it, and added a pink heart emoji in the caption to match the pink of Tobi’s jacket. The final picture was of tiny baby shoes that looked like teddy bears.
Will has been engaged to Tobi since 2024 after over a decade together. They got engaged during a romantic trip to Tuscany, and they are thought to have met around 2011.
A source told The Sun at the time of the announcement: “Will and Tobi are overjoyed and he can’t wait to become a dad. He already had a busy winter juggling Strictly and Big Brother, but now it’s got a whole lot more complicated.
“Tobi is due this side of Christmas, so there is every chance he has to race away from rehearsals to be with her. Will opens up in Saturday’s Strictly show about the happy news.”
