Victoria and David Beckham’s son Romeo makes his film debut in for Forty Love and is seen getting passionate with his character’s tennis rival.
Romeo Beckham is set to make his film acting debut Forty Love – and the trailer has teased some racy scenes are set to form part of his first major role.
The second-eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham previously worked as a model and also had a football career but will now star in the upcoming French drama set in the world of professional tennis.
Romeo stars as the tennis rival of Sacha Gallo (Paul Kircher), but as the first trailer reveals, things soon get pretty passionate between the characters, who are meant to be at odds with each other within the game.
Romeo can be heard telling Paul’s character: “It’s not my fault if you’re f*****g in love with me!”
In another scene teased as part of the trailer, Romeo can be heard saying: “Sleep with your eyes open, I’m coming for you,” but the pair are also seen sharing a passionate kiss and are also seen lying in bed together.
One scene sees Romeo lying unconscious as his rival drags him into a hotel room, while another sees him sprawled on a tennis court.
The official synopsis for the film, directed by renowned fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, reads: “For the first time, he faces an opponent of an entirely different nature – love. A force as exhilarating as it is destabilising – and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.”
Romeo is starting to gain attention in the acting world. His mother Victoria has her own modest film career, which begun when she burst into showbiz in the late 1990s as part of the Spice Girls alongside Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Melanie C and Emma Bunton.
During her heyday as part of the world’s best-selling girl group, she also starred as a fictionalised version of herself in Spice World: The Movie alongside a host of Hollywood stars like Richard E. Grant and Roger Moore as well as music legends like Sir Elton John and Meat Loaf.
Whilst she has since focused mainly on her fashion business, Victoria made a guest appearance as herself in Ugly Betty and voiced the role of Queen Amphitrite in a 2010 episode of SpongeBob SquarePants.
David has also tried his hand at acting. Before playing himself in a 2020 episode of Modern Family, was famously given a cameo in Guy Ritchie’s Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur several years ago.
At the time, he admitted he was ready to face criticism for his foray into Hollywood. He said: “I am very aware that many sportsmen and other celebrities have turned their hand to acting and failed.
“I know it is a tough profession, where you need a huge amount of skill and discipline. I wouldn’t want to push myself forward too soon, without learning more about it and doing a lot more practice.
“But what I have done so far, I have loved. I can deal with most things. I am a well-known person, so I have gotten used to criticism. It was nerve-racking delivering the lines, but it actually went really well. The thing about sport is that it gets the heart beating faster. You focus the mind in order to deliver. Acting has a similar feel.”
