KADAPA: A 36-year-old woman was killed by lightning while working in a chilli field near her village in B. Kodur mandal of YSR Kadapa district on Thursday evening.
The deceased was identified as G. Amaravathi of Gunthapalli village. She had gone to a nearby chilli field for agricultural work when lightning struck her, killing her on the spot, according to local residents.
Residents said the weather had remained cloudy since Thursday afternoon. A sudden lightning strike accompanied by a loud thunderclap startled people in the area.
