Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has alleged that Delhi Police may detain him ahead of the outfit’s proposed ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march at Central Park in Connaught Place on Friday.
Addressing a press conference late Thursday night, Dipke claimed that investigators were monitoring him at his residence and alleged that vehicles without number plates were following him. He asserted that he would not be intimidated and was prepared to go to jail for waving the national flag.
“Tomorrow, we will peacefully go and wave the Tiranga. If we have to go to jail for waving the tricolour, we are ready for it,” he said. The remarks came after the New Delhi Municipal Council announced that Central Park would remain closed to the public on Friday and Saturday for administrative reasons. Delhi Police, meanwhile, said it could facilitate a select group to wave the national flag and sing the national anthem at a suitable location.
The CJP has called on supporters and citizens to join the proposed gathering as part of its protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities.
Dipke also cited the judicial custody of CJP colleagues Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, arrested after waving the national flag at Jantar Mantar on October 13.
Demanding Kumar’s removal and an independent appointment process, Dipke accused the government of suppressing dissent and described the situation as an “Emergency.”
