Recently, Kate called out her estranged son Collin Gosselin’s allegations against her in his bombshell memoir. For the unversed, in a TikTok comment, Kate Gosselin wrote, “Rational logical people or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what’s going on here.” Kate’s comments were in response to a supporter who labeled Collin’s claims as ‘terrible lies’ and said it ‘should be illegal to defame someone’ in a memoir.
Now, in an interview with TMZ, Collin hit back at his mother, Kate’s mental health claims. He said this isn’t the first time his mom has made such claims. However, he said he has undergone three separate psychiatric evaluations conducted independently. He said:
“My mom has said these things time and time again. The nice thing is, I’ve gotten multiple psychiatric evaluations done. So many, many times – three times – I actually have three independent psychiatric evaluations that have been completed. I’ve passed all of them, obviously.”
Taking an indirect dig at Kate, Collin said, “And all I have to say is maybe it’s time for someone else to get one.” Collin stated that he always believed that he was not the one at fault in the conflict with his mother. He explained that undergoing the psychiatric evaluations simply provided written evidence to support what he had already believed about himself.
Further, in the interview, Collin said that he was disappointed that his mother continued to question his mental health even after he had undergone three evaluations. He expressed disappointment that his mother had not supported him in the way he believes a parent should. He feels that parents should care for their children, stand by them and do what is best for them, but he believes his mother did the opposite. He said:
“Unfortunately, even alongside that, my mom still makes these claims. We want parents that support us and do the best for their children, but she’s unfortunately done the opposite.”

In his memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, Collin made several allegations against his mother, Kate. He alleged that his mom restrained him with zip ties. He claimed that his mom would hit him when he did not behave or perform the way she wanted while their family reality show was being filmed. Earlier, in 2024, Collin first publicly described his mother as verbally abusive.
Later, he alleged that Kate deliberately kept him away from his siblings, preventing him from maintaining a close relationship with them. For those unaware, Collin has been estranged from his mother, Kate, since 2016, when she sent him to live in a behavioral health institution for alleged behavioral issues. At the time, he was 11.
A few days ago, in an interview with Page Six, Collin shared a heartbreaking message for his seven siblings, whom he’s been estranged from for nearly a decade. He revealed that the last time he told ‘I love you’ to his siblings was at a reunion they had about 14 to 15 years ago.
