Newcastle 0-1 Aston Villa: Manzambi goal piles more pressure on struggling Jaissle

Johan Manzambi scored the only goal as Aston Villa secured a well-deserved victory at Newcastle to heap more pressure on home boss Matthias Jaissle.

Newcastle fans were hoping for a response following Monday night’s 4-1 hammering at Coventry but, although their side showed plenty of aggression with a series of wild challenges, they lacked any quality in the final third.

The final whistle as met by loud boos with Jaissle already looking in danger.

The same cannot said for Unai Emery for whom it has been a good few days, this victory coming on the heels of a 6-0 thrashing of Fenerbahce in the Champions League.
