Waiting staff at a busy restaurant were forced to tell Sabrina Carpenter that her request wasn’t possible, and her response spoke volumes. You often get told not to meet your favourite celebrities to avoid getting disappointed by their personality.
For some celebrities, how they appear in interviews or on stage isn’t the reality for what they are like on a regular day away from the spotlight. Others, however, are down to earth portray themselves exactly as they are normally.
Now, waiting staff at a restaurant in New York City no longer have to wonder what global superstar Sabrina Carpenter is like off-stage after it was disclosed that the star dined in their restaurant.
One of the staff described how the Espresso singer came into the restaurant through the kitchen surrounded by four bodyguards. It wasn’t long before a member of her team stepped in to make a request on the singer’s behalf.
The member of staff said: “She came in through the kitchen with an entourage and like two bodyguards in front and back of her, which was wild. And then her, I think manager, came up to me and said she had an hour to eat, which where I work, that’s kind of impossible.”
The member of staff then told the manager that if she wanted to eat that quickly, that the mean would not be to their usual high standards.
She continued: “I was like, ‘It’s not going to be pretty. Does she care?’ And she said, ‘Absolutely not.’ And I was like, ‘We’re going to get it done.’ And she was amazing. And then she was on SNL like two hours later.”
The member of staff disclosed the star’s exact order she made just two hours before her SNL performance.
She said: “She had a Caesar salad, she had a strip steak medium rare, I don’t think she drank, she just had sparkling water.”
Sabrina Carpenter, born in Pennsylvania, started studying voice at the age of six before posting videos of herself singing on YouTube from the age of 10. She then came third in the singing contest The Next Miley Cyrus Project i n 2010 before starting her acting career one year later.
Her biggest TV role came in 2014 when she starred as Maya Hart in the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World. From there she signed with Hollywood Records for her first four albums, before joining Island Records in 2021 and releasing hits such as Nonsense, Please Please Please and Manchild.
Her accolades now include two Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, three American Music Awards, a Brit Award and six MTV Video Music Awards.
