Eric Dane shared a heartbreaking story in his posthumous memoir of the devastating grip his ALS diagnosis had on him in his final months
Eric Dane’s posthumous memoir has revealed a devastating moment with his daughter, Billie. He shared how he was no longer able to give her his usual hug following her ballet performance.
The actor described a heartbreaking moment in December 2025 due to his ALS diagnosis. Billie had been part of a production of The Nutcracker and the actor, who died in February aged 53, described being unable to hug her.
An excerpt published by People read how he told his daughter: “Billie, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry I can’t wrap my arms around you.” Instead, it was Billie who embraced her dad and the pair shed tears together.
Eric had hoped the moment would become their new tradition. Sadly, he died months later surrounded by friends, his devoted wife, and his two daughters.
