Charley Hull is one of the best players in women’s golf. But she might be the best personality in all of pro golf.

The three-time LPGA winner has become a favorite among golf fans for her candid nature, idiosyncratic habits, constant pranks and epic stories from her life and career.

This week she shared a doozy even for her, and one that’s a must-read for her fans.

In an interview with Golfweek’s Adam Schupak, Hull revealed a wild tale of a drunken night in Ibiza where she woke up with her first tattoo, one that almost went on her forehead.

Charley Hull’s night out in Ibiza ends with tattoo

In her wide-ranging conversation with Schupak, Hull brought up the subject of tattoos innocently enough, acknowledging, “I’ve got three tattoos.”

The first ink, though, came after a 17-year-old Hull had a drunken night of partying with a friend in Ibiza. On the way back to the hotel, as Hull related to Schupak, the future pro golfer decided she wanted to get her first tattoo… on her forehead.

“I’ve got one on my foot. I got drunk when I was in Ibiza when I was 17 years old. Me and my friend James went out partying. I was coming back from the club, and I thought it would be a great idea to get a tattoo across my head, because me and my best mate, James, our favorite thing we always said to each other was ‘Hold tight, hold tight,’” Hull explained.

Fortunately, Hull’s friend James thought better of it and convinced her to drop the face tattoo idea.

“He wouldn’t let me get it on my forehead. Instead, I got it on my foot, and it says, ‘Hold tight.’ He got a matching one on his arm,” Hull said.

But it doesn’t end there. It turns out that Hull had so much fun that night that she couldn’t remember getting the tattoo. James had to break the news to her the next morning.

“We went back to the hotel, woke in the morning hung over, and I went to James, ‘Bloody hell, was I that drunk last night? I walked back with a plastic bag on my foot.’ He said, ‘No, Charley. That’s the wrapping after you’ve had your tattoo,’” Hull shared. “I was like, ‘What? I got a tattoo?’ He said, ‘Yeah, you were trying to get it on your forehead and we had to stop you there.’”

Hull also shared that her second tattoo was a regrettable one, too. It’s her ex-husband’s name on her wrist, which she said she’s “tried to get removed.” Fortunately, her third tattoo is a keeper, at least for now. She and fellow English pro Georgia Hall have matching lightning bolt tattoos.
