Preview for Bournemouth v AC Milan
There’s a lovely bit of symmetry to this one. Bournemouth’s red-and-black kit, introduced in 1971, was modelled on AC Milan’s famous stripes. On Thursday night, the seven-time European champions come to the Vitality Stadium in what will be one of the biggest nights in the Cherries’ history.
It’s a fixture that would have been unthinkable not so long ago, and Bournemouth arrive in great shape. They beat Sturm Graz 3-0 in their first-ever home European game, with Evanilson, Rayan and Álvaro Rodríguez all on the scoresheet, and that made it two wins from two after their opening victory at Real Sociedad.
A win here would make Bournemouth the first English side to win their first three major European matches since Sunderland in 1973-74.
Domestic form is finally picking up, too. Marco Rose’s side took just three points from their first six Premier League games, but they beat ten-man Sunderland 2-0 last weekend to climb out of the relegation zone.
Milan come into this one in good form. They lost 2-0 at home to Benfica on matchday one, but bounced back with a 4-0 win at Red Bull Salzburg last week, with 19-year-old Alphadjo Cissé scoring a hat-trick. The Rossoneri are also unbeaten in Serie A and sit fourth.
Their record in England is poor, though. Milan have won just two of their last 22 European games on English soil, drawing seven and losing 13.
Bournemouth have been tough to beat at home, losing only once since their first home game of 2026. Their last four home wins have all come with clean sheets.

Europa League Table

Team News for Bournemouth v AC Milan
Rose is still without Julián Araújo, Veljko Milosavljević, Alex Scott and Eli Junior Kroupi.
Ben Gannon-Doak was left out of Bournemouth’s original Europa League squad, but he was brought in after Kroupi’s ankle injury and could start.
Cissé is joint-top of the Europa League scoring charts after his hat-trick in Salzburg and is expected to keep his place, while Diego Moreira and Adrien Rabiot are both likely to feature for Ruben Amorim’s men but Filippo Terracciano is suspended.

Prediction for Bournemouth v AC Milan
The strength of the Premier League and the inequality of money in Europe’s big five leagues mean, incredibly, Bournemouth are favourites to beat the mighty AC Milan. And given their performance at the weekend we think it’s highly likely.
