Allen Bailey’s sudden death Tuesday was called in as a cardiac arrest, TMZ Sports reported Thursday.

Per a police report, officers from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for “cardiac arrest” regarding the former Chiefs defensive end at his Florida home at Green Cove Springs.

As deputies arrived on the scene, they reportedly were met by the person who reported the incident, who unlocked the gate to the house and brought the officers to where Bailey was.

The 37-year-old was declared dead about 10 minutes later, according to the report.

The Clay County Sheriff’s office has launched an investigation into the death.

On Wednesday, it was reported that Bailey’s family believed he died of natural causes. His wife, Lauren, found him inside their home.

Bailey played his first eight NFL seasons with the Chiefs (2011-2018) before spending his final two seasons with the Falcons.

He played 31 games in Atlanta before being released in 2021.

If Bailey had stayed just one more season in Kansas City, he could have had a Super Bowl ring in what was just Patrick Mahomes’ second year as the starter.

He was later selected in the third round of the 2011 draft by Kansas City.

Bailey, an Sapelo Island, Ga. native, was remembered Wednesday in multiple posts honoring him on social media, including from Dwayne Bowe, who was his Chiefs teammate for four years.
