In an interview with Bustle, Kristen explained that being a celebrity doesn’t make raising children any easier. The actress, who has two daughters, Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11, further revealed that puberty can be a particularly challenging period for both the parents and the children. Calling it brutal, the actress said:
“Do not think because I am on your television that it is easy for me. It’s brutal. I cry weekly.”
In the same conversation, Kristen stated that kids, during puberty, experience emotional, physical, and developmental changes. During this time, parents can feel isolated while dealing with their children’s behavior. Speaking about how many parents go through similar struggles, Kristen said:
“Oftentimes when you’re in that cyclone of puberty, you could think, ‘My kid is the only one doing this. For the good of the people, we should share our dirty stories, our shame, our hardships. But for the good of the one? My main job in life is to protect those two.”
Kristen Bell revealed sacrificing her career for her children
In the interview, Kristen shared not only the struggle of raising her daughters but also the need to protect their privacy in the public eye. The actress and her husband have consciously decided not to reveal their daughters’ faces on social media. Whenever the children appear in online posts, their faces are either blurred or covered with heart emojis.
In her interview with Bustle, Kristen made it clear how she manages her priorities as a working mom, as she doesn’t take projects that pull her away from her kids. The actress also shared that her career comes second; her growing children come first. Revealing how she is ready to sacrifice her career for her girls, Kristen said:
“That’s really the No. 1, to be honest. There’s nothing higher than that. I would easily let my whole career and all its legacy and notoriety [disappear] tomorrow if it meant sacrificing something major in my kids’ lives, or not being there.”
Kristen and Dax got engaged in 2010, but they waited 3 years before getting married. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Lincoln, in 2013, and in the same year, they tied the knot. Then in 2014, Kristen and Dax’s family expanded as they were blessed with a second baby girl, Delta.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard have always been open about how much work they have had to put in to make their marriage work.
