Obsession released on May 15, 2026, and quickly became obsessed over by everyone. The story was a breath of fresh air in the horror genre, with some captivating performances from debutant actors Inde Navarrette and Cooper Tomlinson, and the visionary director Curry Baker.

The story follows Bear, who is madly in love, rather obsessed with his dream girl, Nikki (Inde Navarrette). When obsession meets desperation, and an inconceivable opportunity knocks at his door, Bear wishes for Nikki to love him more than anything in the world.

Wordplay at major negligence causes Nikki to get obsessed with Bear, in a very unhealthy manner, leading to some irreversible consequences.

Now, speaking of the movie, Inde Navarrette dives deep into the making of the film, speaking specifically about how the scene in which she hid in the corner of the room, staring at Bear while he was sleeping, was a terrifying watch for her. She said, “This is the scariest part of the film. I refuse to watch this scene. I was looking at the corner. I was like, I know what we’re talking about, but yeah, this is the uncanny valley makeup.”

She explains in depth a psychological concept that was at play in large to portray the characters in a different light to the audience. She continued, “Curry had the idea of kind of playing with that part of your brain when something looks human, but there’s a part of your brain that recognizes that it’s not, and that is called the uncanny valley,”

She also paid praise to the makeup artist who, in an exaggerated sense, created an unholy human, amplifying the fear aspect. She added, “And Kate Oja, who is the makeup artist for this, really did a good job because it’s terrifying. We, in a Joker-esque way, emphasized the lining of my lips and just kind of exaggerated certain features to give it this inhuman aspect. So we put black around my pupils to emphasize the eyes and just kind of all of the little lines in my face. ”

Obsession will be released on the Peacock Hub on JioHotstar in India on October 30, 2026.
