Sam Fender has hit out and promised to change the ticket prices for his upcoming Proper Massive Stadium Tour, and also promised to remove ‘front standing’ options
Sam Fender is changing the ticket prices for his upcoming stadium tour. The North Shields-born rocker, 32, this week announced his biggest tour to date, his Proper Massive Stadium Tour, which will see him take to the stage at venues including St James’ Park and Wembley next year.
Fender will kick off his impressive run of shows at Newcastle’s St James’ Park on June 3 and 5, before travelling to Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Wembley, Dublin’s Marlay Park, Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, with Wunderhorse joining him in the support slot.
But while tickets are yet to be released, with general sale starting on October 30 at 9am, and presale starting on October 28 at 9am, fans have been left unhappy with the price. Sam himself was also left disgruntled and has vowed to make huge changes, as fans prepare to see the musician and his band, consisting of Dean Thompson, Joe Atkinson, Brooke Bentham, Drew Michael, Johnny Davis, Tom Ungerer and Mark Webb on the road.

Replying to a fan on social media, the Play God hitmaker said: “I’m not happy with these prices, they’re getting changed. It got inflated well more than I’d had in mind; it should only be inflated in relation to the cost of putting the show on.
“The standing will not be split as well; I had no idea about it. I have no idea how this was normalised in gigs. It’s b******s and It won’t be happening on this tour.”
Tickets for St James’ Park were priced at £98.60 for standing, with seating ranging between £86.50 and £112.90. Meanwhile, in Cardiff, front standing was priced at £119, general standing at £98.10, and seated tickets ranged from £64 to £119.
At Wembley, those hoping to snap up front standing almost forked out £130.75, with general standing priced at £98.85. Seated tickets ranged from £64.75 to £130.75. Tickets at Murrayfield were priced at £120.95 for front standing, £100.05 for standing, and £65.95 to £120.95 for seated.
Tickets for Manchester had been priced at £119 for front standing, £98.70 for general standing, and £64.60-£119.60 for seated tickets. However, it is not known how much the new tickets for Sam’s Proper Massive Stadium Tour will cost.
At previous shows last year, tickets ranged between £65 and £88. Last year, Sam was also one of the major artists who encouraged the UK government to uphold its pledge to cap secondary ticket prices. His last arena tour also saw Fender help 38 grassroots venues across the nation.
Tickets included a £1 levy to support the venues, which have been essential to helping artists establish themselves early on in their careers. At the time, Sam said: “It’s brilliant to see that the money raised from the arena tour is making a real difference to so many venues.”
The news comes shortly after Sam and Olivia Dean broke the record for the longest-running Number One song in history, held by Frankie Laine since 1953. In July, Rein Me In made history after topping the charts for 19 weeks.
