Hyderabad: Telangana IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu reviewed plans to develop the state’s leather industry with senior officials, focusing on supporting traditional artisans, encouraging entrepreneurship and creating employment opportunities.

The government is planning to establish a Common Facility Centre (CFC) in Gachibowli to help artisans improve their designs, develop better products and access wider markets.

Eco-friendly tanneries are also proposed at Rukmapur in Karimnagar district, which are expected to generate around 1,000 jobs. In addition, plug-and-play factory complexes are planned at Jammikunta and Armoor to support small-scale industries.

The initiatives aim to strengthen the leather industry, promote Scheduled Caste (SC) entrepreneurs and create more employment opportunities for the youth in Telangana.
