Carrie Underwood's Painful Confession About 3 Miscarriages Resurfaces Amid 'Changed Look' Debate

Carrie Underwood is making headlines with her recent appearance that sparked online debate about her changing looks. While some social media users have speculated about possible cosmetic procedures, others have defended the country singer against the criticism.

Amid the renewed attention, an emotional chapter from the singer’s past has also resurfaced to understand the tragedy that followed the singer through the years. After her first child with Mike Fischer, Underwood suffered three miscarriages before welcoming their younger son, Jacob, in 2019. Her heartbreaking account offered a rare glimpse into the personal struggles behind her successful music career.

Carrie Underwood’s recent appearance sparks ‘Mar-a-Lago’ face debate

Underwood, 43, recently attended CMA Presents: Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton on October 21, 2026. The country star wowed in a strapless pale pink and white ballgown as she joined other performers paying tribute to the legendary singer.

Despite a lot of criticism regarding Carrie’s appearance, many people said that her face hasn’t changed much and that she looked fine. Carrie’s recent appearance was also covered by Vanity Fair, which emphasised her high eyebrows, cartoonishly swollen lips, frozen-looking skin, and eyes that seemed to be pulled upward and sideways. However, it was impossible to tell if Carrie had received cosmetic surgery.

Some commenters made remarks about her makeup and complexion, with some even pointing at the infamous “Mar-a-Lago face” trend. Some others defended her, arguing that she looked much the same as before and that the online reaction had become unnecessarily harsh.

While the conversation surrounding her appearance continues, Underwood has previously shown that there is much more to her story than what fans see on stage or in photographs.

Carrie Underwood’s heartbreaking revelation about three miscarriages

In 2018, Underwood opened up about one of the most painful periods of her life, i.e., the three miscarriages she experienced over less than two years while trying to expand her family with her husband, Mike Fisher. The couple had welcomed their first son, Isaiah, in February 2015. They subsequently experienced two pregnancy losses in 2017 and another in early 2018, leaving Underwood struggling to understand why she was repeatedly experiencing heartbreak.

During an emotional interview with CBS Sunday Morning in September 2018, the singer recalled believing she might be experiencing a fourth miscarriage. Underwood recalled, “I was just sobbing. I was like, ‘Why on earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid?'”

The singer also spoke frankly about struggling with her faith during the difficult period. A devout Christian, she had tried for years to feel grateful for her family and career, but repeated pregnancy losses had her voicing feelings she had kept inside for so long. She later explained that the experience forced her to confront how little control she had over what was happening to her body.

Speaking to Women’s Health in 2020 in its April cover story, Underwood shared: “For my body to not be doing something it was ‘supposed to do’ was a tough pill to swallow. It reminded me I’m not in control of everything.”

She also emphasized why speaking publicly about miscarriage mattered to her, particularly because so many women experience pregnancy loss in silence. She said, “It’s not a dirty secret. It’s something many women go through.”

In January 2019, after a series of heartbreaks, Underwood and Fisher finally welcomed their second son, Jacob Bryan Fisher. The singer described her partner as a miracle and expressed gratitude for the long-awaited addition to their family. Sharing the happy news on January 21, 2019, the singer wrote:

“Jacob Bryan Fisher entered the world in the wee hours of the morning on Monday…his mom, dad, and big brother couldn’t be happier for God to trust them with taking care of this little miracle! Our hearts are full, our eyes are tired, and our lives are forever changed. Life is good.”

Underwood has acknowledged that the heartbreak of these losses has always stayed with her. And while the debate about her appearance continues, her story becomes a powerful reminder of the personal battles that shaped her life beyond the camera.
