Vijayawada:Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has stepped up efforts to finalise seat-sharing arrangements among the NDA partners for the upcoming local body elections in Andhra Pradesh.

The alliance partners are likely to jointly announce the list of constituencies they contest by Sunday night or Monday.

After holding discussions with Jana Sena chief and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan and BJP state president PVN Madhav, Naidu is likely to hold talks with alliance leaders to finalise the allocation of seats and key posts.

The negotiations are focused on Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) seats, besides Zilla Parishad chairperson and Mandal Parishad president posts.

State-level leaders have entrusted local leaders with the responsibility of negotiating seat-sharing arrangements for ZPTC and MPTC constituencies, while discussions on Zilla Parishad chairperson posts are being held at the state level.

The Jana Sena has sought eight Zilla Parishad chairperson posts, while the BJP two. There is speculation that Jana Sena could be allotted six chairperson posts, though the BJP may not get any of these positions.

The alliance is working on an understanding for 28 Zilla Parishad chairperson posts and 659 ZPTC seats. An agreement also needs to be reached on 660 Mandal Parishad president posts and 9,829 MPTC seats.

Sources stated that the Alluri Sitarama Raju and Anakapalli districts are among the Zilla Parishads that could be allotted to Jana Sena. The party may also get four additional chairperson posts as part of the proposed arrangement.
