Amid Nicki Minaj's White House Buzz, Ex-Assistant Demands Private Texts Be Revealed In Battery Case

Nicki Minaj has been getting attention for an unusual reason. The American rapper, 43, is making headlines for her increasingly visible support of President Donald Trump and even buzz about a possible role in the White House.

Amid the ongoing chatter, Nicki’s long-running legal feud with her former assistant has resurfaced as the rapper hit back at his demands for private text messages to be turned over to the court in an ongoing battery lawsuit.

Nicki Minaj’s ex-assistant seeks private texts in battery lawsuit

Brandon Jovan Garrett, who previously worked as Nicki Minaj‘s assistant, is seeking messages related to his employment and an alleged backstage altercation from April 2024. According to court documents reported by TMZ, Garrett has asked Minaj to produce text messages exchanged with third parties between January and April 2024 that discuss him or his employment.

The ex-assistant has also requested messages concerning the alleged assault he says took place backstage at one of the rapper’s concerts. Minaj, meanwhile, has pushed back against the requests, openly maintaining that she does not possess messages about the alleged incident and argues that some of Garrett’s demands go too far.

The latest dispute is related to the January 2025 lawsuit that Garrett filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court, where he alleges he worked as Minaj’s assistant and day-to-day manager during her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. Their professional relationship reportedly fell apart after an alleged incident in Detroit in April 2024.

Garrett alleges that the confrontation occurred backstage at Little Caesars Arena on April 21, 2024. He claims Minaj summoned him to her dressing room after becoming angry over a prescription pickup that another staff member had handled at his direction.

According to the lawsuit, the rapper confronted Garrett with angry remarks and threatened him during the exchange. He further claims that she struck him in the face and on his right wrist, leaving him with physical injuries and emotional distress. He is seeking damages through claims that include assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Nicki Minaj has strongly refuted the accusations through her legal team. Her former attorney, Judd Burstein, previously called the lawsuit “false and frivolous” and argued that the request is an invasion of privacy. The court has not established that the alleged assault occurred.

Nicki Minaj’s White House appearances fuel fresh attention after Trump’s controversial remark

The legal dispute comes as Minaj attracts attention for her growing association with Trump and his administration. On October 24, 2026, the rapper appeared alongside the president at a rally at McMorran Place Arena in Port Huron, Michigan. During his remarks, Trump made a comment about Minaj’s appearance, praising her figure, saying she has a “beautiful a**” before asking her to stand up.

Trump later added that he hoped she had not been offended and said he appreciated her support. Minaj subsequently voiced strong support for the president, describing it as an honor to stand with him and saying she would continue supporting him.

Minaj has publicly praised Trump’s administration, described herself as one of his biggest supporters, and attended conservative events, including Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest. Her political visibility has also sparked speculation about a possible role in the administration.

The buzz intensified after White House Communications Director Steven Cheung posted a video featuring Minaj aboard Air Force One and jokingly suggested that she could be the next White House press secretary. Cheung wrote on X:

“Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!”

Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz also weighed in, asking Minaj’s fans what they thought of the idea. But these claims remain speculative at best, as there has been no confirmation that Minaj is being formally considered for the position after the humiliating firing of Katie Zacharia.

Before Garrett’s lawsuit, Nicki Minaj had been pulled into legal feuds with vendors, production companies, and a former bodyguard regarding claims of harassment, copyright, unpaid debts, and assault.
