Nizamabad: BJP Legislature Party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy on Tuesday accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of favouring Kodangal Assembly constituency in fund allocation while neglecting other parts of Telangana.

He questioned whether Revanth reddy was the Chief Minister of the entire state or only of Kodangal, alleging that substantial funds had been released for the constituency’s development while other areas were being ignored.

Maheshwar Reddy also criticised the state government for failing to release funds for the construction of a railway overbridge (RoB) at Madhavanagar in Nizamabad.

The BJP staged a protest at the ROB site on Tuesday, demanding the release of funds.

MP Dharmapuri Arvind, Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, National Turmeric Board chairman Palle Ganga Reddy, BJP district president K. Dinesh Kumar and other senior leaders attended the protest.

Speaking at the site, Maheshwar Reddy said the delay in construction was causing inconvenience to the public, particularly students.

He demanded that the state government release the required funds.

Arvind alleged that the BRS government had neglected Nizamabad’s development during its 10-year tenure.

He also accused former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha and BRS MLA Bigala Ganesh Gupta of neglecting development and harassing contractors for commissions.

Arvind said he had met Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, setting aside political differences, to seek the release of funds for the Madhavanagar RoB.

He said `9.60 crore had not been released so far.

The Centre had released its share for the project, but the state government had failed to provide its matching grant, he said.

“I started begging for the construction of RoB,” Arvind said.
