During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Kristen Bell revealed that when the couple is out for dinner, Dax does a couple of things that make her feel like he is the best boy. The Nobody Wants This actress shared that he flirts with her by complimenting other people.
As per Bell, Shepard would tell the waitress, “Wow, you have incredible eyelashes, gorgeous eyes. Great, great job.” After revealing her husband’s peculiar trait, Bell shared that when he compliments someone and makes them feel good, she knows he is flirting with her. On the other hand, Shepard shared the physical attributes of others that he never compliments, and lips come under it, as he said, “I don’t do lips. That’s crazy.”
Later in their conversation, Bell also revealed that although Shepard compliments others, he never crosses the line or makes anyone feel uncomfortable. Bell also insisted that his ways often flatter her. Elaborating on the same, “That’s why it gives me butterflies because everyone saw it.”
Why did Dax Shepard initially refuse to marry Kristen Bell?
Kristen and Dax got engaged in 2010, but they waited 3 years before getting married. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Lincoln, in 2013, and in the same year, they tied the knot. Then in 2014, Kristen and Dax’s family expanded as they were blessed with a second baby girl, Delta.
But did you know Shepard didn’t want to marry Bell at first? On his podcast, Dax told her he didn’t believe in marriage. She recalled him saying he didn’t want to marry her because he felt a piece of paper would never dictate how he treated her. Kristen Bell recalled that her then-boyfriend told her he would be her partner, but not because of a document they signed at a courthouse.
Even though Kristen Bell was more “traditional”, she felt that Dax Shepard made a “pretty decent point” at the time. For Dax, the negative perception of marriage stemmed from the fact that both he and Kristen came from broken homes.
On Christmas Eve, Shepard realized he wanted to marry Bell. He recalled that a month later he was all set to get down on one knee at her favorite restaurant, but that moment felt too perfect. So, he rushed into the bedroom closet and found the engagement ring. Speaking of the same, the actor confessed:
“I was like, ‘Oh, this is the moment I’m going to try to recreate in a month at Stanley’s over a salad, but it’s happening.’ I was like, ‘F–k it, I’m just gonna go get the ring now.’ She’s already crying by the time I got back to the bed.”
