Paramount Pictures has unveiled a new featurette offering a glimpse into Johnny Depp’s portrayal of the deliciously unpleasant Ebenezer Scrooge in Ebenezer. A thrilling reimagining of Charles Dickens’ iconic ghost story, the film promises audiences a fresh take on one of literature’s most recognisable characters.
Speaking about his approach to the character in the featurette, Johnny Depp says, “With Ebenezer Scrooge, I was looking for a different way in than just the idea of this miserable, greedy old guy. Nobody’s born mean or with some ambition to just piss everyone off.” Reflecting on the timeless appeal of A Christmas Carol, he adds, “There are deep messages that are very profound. But at the same time I am going to see the humor in it.”
Starring Johnny Depp in the lead role, Ebenezer features an ensemble cast including Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Charlie Murphy, alongside Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen.
Directed by Ti West, the film features a screenplay by Nathaniel Halpern, based on Charles Dickens’ beloved novella A Christmas Carol. It is executive produced by Ti West, Adam Bohling, David Reid, Stephen Deuters, Jason Forman, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, Andrew Lary, Molly Smith, Thad Luckinbill, Trent Luckinbill and produced by Emma Watts.
Produced by Paramount Pictures, Ebenezer releases in cinemas across India on 27th November 2026.
