David Walliams is a renowned actor, comedian, writer, and TV personality. He is best known for appearing as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent from 2012 to 2022. At present, he has found himself in the headlines after Sara Pascoe made the shocking claim that she was fired from David Walliams’ game show, Wall of Fame, for being ‘shy.’ She also called it a bizarre experience.
The news comes days after David was ‘cancelled’ over ‘inappropriate behavior towards women.’ For those unaware, while David is currently single, he was once married to model Lara Stone.
What caused David Walliams and Lara Stone’s divorce?
David Walliams tied the knot with model Lara Stone back in 2010. While things seemed to be going well at first, their marriage fell apart within five years, and they split in 2015. The former couple, who share a son named Alfred together, had a messy divorce as it was revealed that David had cited ‘unreasonable behavior’ in his filing as the reason for their split.
David Walliams and Lara Stone had initially begun dating in 2009 after meeting for the first time at a Chelsea football match. At the time, Lara admitted that she was ‘very nervous’ on their first date, but it did not take long for them to share what she described as a ‘very mean sense of humor.’
They got engaged within a year of meeting each other. Just four months later, David and Lara got married in front of their friends at Claridge’s Hotel in London in a lavish ceremony that cost 80,000 pounds. Their wedding was graced by several A-listers, including Sir Elton John, Russell Brand, and Stephen Fry. Shortly after the wedding, the model gushed about her love for David in a 2011 interview. She said:
“I am madly in love. I’ve never been happier. We met at a party and then went on a few dates. He’s wonderful. He’s amazing. He makes me laugh. He’s a proper gentleman. He’s a bit mean but in a good way. I’m happy.”

But when things between them came to an end, it was David Walliams who was left “devastated” when he and Lara broke up. According to a source quoted by The Sun, David wanted to work things out, especially as their split came less than two years after Lara gave birth to their son. The source said:
“David didn’t want to divorce and desperately hoped they could work things out. But Lara was insistent, and David accepted for the sake of Alfred. It was easier for David to divorce Lara and claim it was her unreasonable behaviour. She was willing to accept that as the reason.”
The fact that David Walliams was keen on reconciling with his ex-wife was proved further when he was spotted wearing his wedding ring at the beginning of 2015. When they were still together, David and Lara were considered one of the strongest relationships in showbiz. But at the time of their divorce, neither David nor Lara was even present at London’s Central Family Court to witness the legal end of their union.

Following their divorce, David Walliams was romantically linked to a string of women. This includes Made in Chelsea star Ashley James, Playboy model Emily Agnes, Hollywood actress Kate Beckinsale, and Miss Norway contender Sylvia Flote. On the other hand, Lara also moved on, tying the knot with David Grievson in July 2021. The pair found love while they were on the dating app Tinder in 2018.
