Despite having a tough performance in Sunday’s 29-20 loss to the Falcons, 49ers wide receiver Brandin Cooks is making the most of his bye week.

Cooks posted a video of himself on his Instagram Story taking off on the runway, preparing to fly over the Bay Area.

His video emerged on X from the account @Coach_Yac, who said they posted it to see what the “replies” would look like.

The responses toward the 49ers receiver flying were not necessarily the most encouraging.

@gv49ers said they were “Surprised he didn’t run into another plane on the runway…”

Cooks continued to face more backlash in the comments section of the post, as @Jhin345 wrote, “Fly that s— out of the bay he sucks.”

Cooks received one comment in which the fan admitted they were joking, as @Earthpigs23A wrote, “I hope he waited for air trafficking control to tell him to take off 🤣 I’m just kidding, it’s cool seeing players lives and what they do outside of football.”

In Sunday’s game, Cooks was on the field for 45 of the 49ers’ snaps but didn’t even have one target come his way.

Instead, second-year wide receiver Jordan Watkins had a breakout performance: six targets and three receptions for 56 yards.

In the fourth quarter, Watkins nearly recorded his first career touchdown after making a leaping catch in the end zone, only for his foot to land just out of bounds.

While Watkins stole the show from Cooks, the 13-year veteran wide receiver is in the middle of his first stint playing for the 49ers.

After signing with San Francisco’s practice squad in September, he was promoted to the active roster shortly after and said he’s fulfilling a childhood dream. He grew up in Stockton as a 49ers fan.
