Former celebrity pastor Carl Lentz, who baptized Justin and his wife, Laura Lentz, claimed in their new book, Overcoming Infidelity: 10 Conversations to Help You Heal the Hurt, that the Biebers kicked them out of their house after the 2020 cheating scandal. For the unversed, in 2020, Hillsong founder Brian Houston fired Carl for moral failure after a cheating scandal involving him and a nanny was exposed.

Justin and Carl were once very close friends. For those unaware, for several years, Carl served as a spiritual confidant for Bieber, and the pair were often spotted spending time together. Back in 2014, the singer even moved in with the Lentz family for a month and a half while he worked through personal issues. At the time, Carl baptized Bieber at his request.
Now, in their newly released book Overcoming Infidelity: 10 Conversations to Help You Heal the Hurt, Carl Lentz and his wife, Laura Lentz, claimed that Justin and Hailey kicked them out of their house within 24 hours. According to reports, the book was released on October 20, 2026. In their book, Laura mentioned that she and Carl had been considering moving to Brooklyn, New York, for several months.
Meanwhile, Justin and Hailey allowed the couple and their three children to stay at their home. The Biebers reportedly told them they could take their time finding a suitable place to live and stay at their house for as long as they needed. However, things changed overnight after the 2020 cheating scandal involving Carl and a nanny. Recalling the moment, Laura wrote:
“Somebody on Justin’s team [called] to say we needed to be out of his and Hailey’s apartment in the next 24 hours. We hastily packed our things and loaded them into a rented U-Haul.”
Carl shared that the incident wherein he and his family were asked to leave the house by Justin and Hailey caused additional pain as he was already suffering a lot and trying to recover from it. The former Hillsong pastor admitted that he understood why the Biebers wanted him to leave their home. However, he felt that his wife, Laura, and their three children did not deserve to suffer because of his mistakes. Carl added he was devastated because his family had to leave the Biebers’ home. He wrote:
“I deserved to be kicked to the curb, but I felt Laura and the kids were just innocent bystanders suffering once again for my sins.”

Carl Lentz was a famous pastor who helped establish Hillsong Church’s New York branch in 2010. He became popular because of his close association with celebrities, particularly Justin Bieber. However, in November 2020, Hillsong removed him from his position because of what the church described as ‘moral failures.’ In the documentary The Secrets of Hillsong, Carl admitted that he had been unfaithful to his wife, Laura.
The Lentz family employed a nanny named Leona Kimes, who was also a member of Hillsong Church. Laura shared that one night she found Carl and Leona in a compromising position. Previously, she suspected something was brewing between the pair. She added that after finding the two in a compromising position, she got angry and also freaked out at the same time. In the documentary, Carl admitted that he had an inappropriate relationship with Leona. He said:
“I am responsible for allowing an inappropriate relationship to develop in my house with someone who worked for us.”
