WARANGAL: Music made from discarded soft-drink cans, miniature robots in the hands of schoolchildren and an extraordinary experience of travelling through space beyond Earth!
Innovative exhibits combining creativity, technology and space science are drawing visitors’ attention at Technexion-2026, being held at NIT Warangal. Students’ inventions, which transform classroom knowledge into practical experiments, have emerged as a major attraction.
The ‘Soda Can Piano’, made using empty soft-drink cans, is leaving visitors amazed. Designed by Uday, Nishitha, Lasya, Gayatri, Keerthana, Vivek and Karthikeya, the instrument demonstrates how musical notes can be produced using waste materials.
Meanwhile, around 30 robotic models developed by nearly 50 schoolchildren under the guidance of Creative Robotics are on display. Models such as a pick-and-drop robot, robot dog, pencil dispenser, Golfy game and cricket ball thrower showcase the young participants’ technological skills.
The exhibition organised by the ATDRL Space Research Lab is taking visitors interested in space into another world. Along with models of ISRO rockets and satellites, the display provides insights into the future construction of human habitats on the Moon and Mars. The organisation’s founder, architect Shashank Bhupathi, is conducting a workshop on ‘Space Architecture and Extraterrestrial Habitations’.
Another major attraction is the special experience titled ‘Beyond Earth’. It offers visitors the feeling of travelling through space as astronauts, allowing them to view Earth, the Moon and the Milky Way up close.
With activities covering artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity and drone technology, Technexion is encouraging students to explore their ideas and creativity. The exhibits demonstrate how small ideas can lay the foundation for major innovations in the future.
