Several young female cows died when a farm building caught fire near Le Havre, northern France, on Thursday.
Firefighters received the call at 14:13 on 29 October. The fire affected about 2,500 square metres of a building in Angerville-l’Orcher, according to local news outlet InfoNormandie.
The report did not give the number of animals who died. Crews were still fighting the fire in the early evening. The cause of the fire is unknown.
People have raised concerns about fires on farms in France. A government report published in 2025 looked at accidents on farms that keep animals. Of the accidents recorded in 2024, almost three out of four were fires.
The report identified several possible causes of farm fires. These included bad electrical equipment, heating systems and farm machinery. Hay and straw can also help flames spread.
