It has been another headline-grabbing week for Manchester United, for all the wrong reasons.
Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth was expected to result in the dismissal of head coach Michael Carrick but he has been given a stay of execution. Carrick can at least count on captain Bruno Fernandes this afternoon after the pair brokered a peace agreement following the Portuguese’s criticism of the team’s tactics at Como.
Chelsea have also endured a miserable few days.
Xabi Alonso’s side were strangely out of sorts in losing to London rivals Tottenham last Saturday and that was followed by an EFL Cup defeat at Liverpool in midweek.
