In a tragic turn of events, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, who was known for films like Kaante, Shootout at Wadala, and Kaabil, has passed away. Sanjay was reportedly 57 years old at the time of his death on October 30, 2026. He passed away at his residence in Mumbai after suffering a head injury in a fall. While Sanjay’s death has left the entire film fraternity in a state of mourning, it is his wife, Anuradha Lekhi Gupta’s, last social media post that is drawing a lot of attention.
Sanjay Gupta’s wife, Anuradha Lekhi Gupta’s last Instagram story before the filmmaker’s death
Hours before her husband, Sanjay Gupta, passed away, Anuradha Lekhi Gupta shared a quote on her Instagram story. It was about believing that something beautiful was about to happen. The quote read, “Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen.”
It seems like she was also in need of some reassurance as she hoped for something good to come her way, writing alongside the quote, “When you need some sort of reassurance…it will appear.”

Following this, Anuradha shared a reel. In the clip, a girl begins by excitedly asking to be born on Earth. However, another woman explains to her how life unfolds, from birth to death, as well as the things one must experience along the way. The most emotional moment of the video unfolds when the woman says, “The hardest part? Someone you love will leave before you do.”
Considering the timing of Sanjay Gupta’s death, these words are striking a chord with fans, making the post particularly poignant. For those unaware, Anuradha and Sanjay had an unusual love story. She first met the filmmaker when she was still in college and tied the knot with him at the age of 22. However, after being married for just six years, the two separated by divorce.
Anuradha and Sanjay continued to remain in touch even after their divorce. They soon realised that they shared a very deep connection and chose to get remarried in 2009. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Anuradha admitted that both she and Sanjay were responsible for the failure of their first marriage. She also addressed rumours that Sanjay was a “playboy” and had numerous affairs, claiming that she decided to trust her husband rather than believe everything she heard.
When they tied the knot for the second time, Anuradha described it as a “marriage of equals.” They welcomed two children together after renewing their vows. Anuradha and Sanjay’s first child, a son, was born in March 2011. Their second child, a daughter named Dalai, was born in January 2013.
