Ciara and Thomas held a second wedding on October 25, 2026, at Darver Castle. This time they were joined by a wider group of family and friends at the Louth venue. Recapping her big day on IG, Ciara wrote, “I hope you didn’t think we were skipping the party. An incredible day yesterday in beautiful @darver_castle, surrounded by the most amazing people.”
Thomas had originally proposed to Ciara over Christmas in 2024. She then announced their engagement in January 2025. Ciara called it her “biggest prize yet” and said that it was the easiest question she had ever been asked. She said that Thomas had been the rock who had stayed by her side for over ten years, and now he was going to be her training partner for life.
In an interview with EVOKE, the athlete explained that the proposal had been a long time coming. She revealed that Thomas had bought a ring in Switzerland and planned to propose to her there but could not do so as she was going through a rough time. He then wanted to propose to Ciara in France after the Olympics in Paris, but even that did not go to plan.
Ciara Mageean heartbreakingly revealed that after she said ‘Yes,’ she and Thomas had to speed up their wedding plan. She told the Irish Times:
“I don’t want to be that girl who looks like a skeleton on her wedding day, or having to be in a hospital bed with Tommy beside me, and me in a wedding dress in the hospital bed. I want it to be a normal day.”

“I say to him, ‘Here, you can’t move on from me too fast.’ People probably are like, ‘I can’t believe you’re saying that.’ But I need to make light of it. It helps me cope with the genuine worry that I’m going to leave him on his own.”
