Jerry Jones was livid after the Cowboys lost 33-30 in overtime to the Cardinals, but did not feel the need, at the moment, to make a change at head coach.
At 3-5, the Cowboys are not where they thought they would be so far this season, and that has head coach Brian Schottenheimer on the hot seat. However, Jones told reporters he wasn’t thinking about a coaching change.
“I’m not proud of it. But I made a change with Wade Phillips there in the middle of the season. I don’t see that here at all,” Jones told reporters after the loss at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.
Still, it wasn’t necessarily a full-throated vote of confidence either when Jones was asked if there had been any concerns that Schottenheimer wasn’t getting the job done.
“Well, I don’t know,” Jones said to the assembled group of reporters, according to The Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins. “None of us are getting it done and that should be my concern. So I’m not pointing at Schotty, I’m not pointing to anybody, but none of us have it done. I haven’t been involved in too many games that we should have wanted and we had the opportunities we had to win this game. So that is a big snapshot that we want to put above our mirror.”
The Cowboys owner was not happy when he spoke to reporters and was visibly upset when Chad Ryland hit the game-winning field goal in overtime, appearing to shout an expletive and slamming his hands on the rail in front of him.

Dallas led 14-0 in the second quarter despite a rough start for the Cowboys offense. They then watched that lead disappear in the final quarter of regulation after the Cardinals scored three touchdowns in the fourth behind backup quarterback Gardner Minshew, who replaced the benched Jacoby Brissett.
The game only reached overtime when the Cardinals missed the extra point with six seconds left in regulation.
