Former NHS nurse Harriet Phillips married the King’s nephew Peter Phillips, in June – and now she has given her first interview since tying the knot and joining the Royal Family
The Royal Family’s newest member has revealed how she can always turn to the ‘open-hearted’ Princess of Wales for advice and guidance after joining the Firm.
Former NHS nurse Harriet Phillips married the King’s nephew Peter Phillips in a church wedding earlier this summer, with Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate among the guests. It comes after mum-of-one Harriet, 46, has been welcomed into the family fold, joining the royals at their traditional Easter Sunday church service at Windsor earlier this year and also taking part in the Royal Ascot carriage procession.
Now it has been revealed that she has taken up her first-ever charity patronage with Home-Start Cotswolds – a charity supporting parents and young children across the community.

And in her first-ever interview since tying the knot, Harriet told how she first met her husband’s cousin William, his wife Kate and their three children on a holiday in the Isles of Scilly – saying it was a ‘casual meeting’ but with a “clear level of respect”.
And speaking about Kate, she told Hello!: “I can look to Catherine for advice and guidance. She’s very open-hearted, and I would always feel comfortable asking her if I needed advice about something.”
While recalling meeting her mother-in-law, Princess Anne, she added: “It was really relaxed; we sat on garden benches having cups of tea. It couldn’t have been nicer and was very similar to when Peter met my family.”
Mr Phillips, the late Queen’s eldest grandchild and the only son of Anne, announced his engagement to mum-of-one Harriet in August before their wedding.
The 48-year-old, who is 20th in line to the throne, was previously married to Autumn Kelly, with whom he has two daughters, Isla and Savannah. He also dated long-term partner Lindsay Wallace before they split in 2024, and he later found love with Harriet, who has a teenage daughter called Georgia.
At Peter and Harriet’s wedding in June, the bride wore a high-necked lace gown by Emilia Wickstead – one of Kate’s favourite designers – and she completed the bridal look with the Pragnell family tiara as well as satin shoes from Jimmy Choo.
The couple now live on Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate where their neighbours include her new sister-in-law Zara Tindall, her husband Mike and their three children.
Reflecting on her wedding, which was attended by all of the senior royals, she said: “It’s emotional looking back at it. When you’re in it, it feels like you’re in a dream, and when you look back, you think: ‘Was that really me?’ It was a slice of heaven.”
Meanwhile, she also opened up about how she and Peter first met – revealing it was on the sidelines of a hockey pitch as they watched their daughters play – not long after her father had died.
She added: “Peter was the brave one in recognising that there was something between us and acting on it. He is very romantic, loving, kind, loyal, amazing and my best friend.”
