Katie Alexander, the girlfriend of Eamonn Holmes, has taken to Instagram with a tribute to men who are ‘masking pain with a smile’ as his health battle continues
Eamonn Holmes‘ girlfriend Katie Alexander has paid tribute to all the “unsupported” men who are “masking pain with a smile”, as the TV star continues to battle ill health following a stroke.
Katie, 44, took to Instagram with a graphic marking Men’s Health Month. The graphic featured six blue hearts and read: “November is Men’s Health Month, we’re sending love to those who are: afraid to be vulnerable; feeling unseen or unsupported; masking pain with a smile; experiencing suicidal ideation; struggling with boy image issues; healing from trauma.”
Over the past year, Eamonn’s health has greatly worried fans. The star, 66, has largely been staying away from the limelight since being hospitalised in April, due to a stroke.
Amid his health battle, his ex wives, Gabrielle Holmes and Ruth Langsford, are reported to have joined forces to be there for for him. Reports have suggested they are “clubbing together and rallying around with the kids to protect Eamonn”.
The TV star’s health battle goes back years. He underwent surgery for both hips to alleviate chronic hip, leg, and back pain in 2016. After that, he fell down the stairs and fractured his shoulder. He then got a painful infection and later had severe spinal issues that led to bladder and bowel problems and a nine-day hospital stay. Later in 2022, he suffered another fall.
His stroke required hospital treatment, to which he was “responding well to”, according to a statement from employer GB News. The spokesperson added: “Eamonn has asked for privacy as he focuses on getting better. His colleagues and everyone at GB News wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the people’s channel when he is ready to return.”
Eamonn suffered from two further falls in 2025 and was often seen walking. with a mobility aid. One of his falls happened live on air, when a chair gave way and he wound up on the floor.

Speaking about the incident, Eamonn said: “It was a bit of a shock for me because I’ve had a fall in my bathroom two weeks ago, which hospitalised me, and that hit me again right in the back.” He continued to say that he was “really, really sore”.
Last month, Katie made a cryptic remark about ‘protecting your energy’ and ‘knowing your worth’ after reports surfaced she’d moved out of the £1.3million flat they shared in Surrey.
Sporting an aquamarine bikini, gazing studiously at the sun on a beautiful beach, she posted: “There is a quiet kind of strength in becoming comfortable with who you are. “No longer needing to prove, explain or seek validation – just choosing peace, protecting your energy and finding beauty in the life you’re creating.”
Insisting that “softness is strength”, she signed off: “Softness is strength. Peace is luxury. And knowing your worth changes everything. Starting with yourself.”
