Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has spoken candidly about the New York Giants ahead of their upcoming clash.

Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has been impressed by the New York Giants’ offence, particularly quarterback J.J. McCarthy, ahead of Sunday’s NFC East clash between the two teams. The Giants currently sit atop the division.

McCarthy joined the Giants in September after being traded by the Minnesota Vikings for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick. He has since taken over as New York’s starting quarterback, seeing as Jaxson Dart has been ruled out for the season after suffering a knee injury. Fangio praised the Giants for getting him.

McCarthy made his mark after coming in to replace Jameis Winston during a loss to the New Orleans Saints, throwing for 243 yards and a touchdown. He then helped the Giants secure a 27-21 overtime win over the Houston Texans in his first start for his new team.

Fangio spoke about all the tools that New York has at their disposal, breaking down just how dangerous a team they are.

“They’ve got a really good offense,” Fangio said, as per NBC Sports. “They’ve got skill at the receiving position. They did a nice job raiding the Ravens, not only for John, but for Likely and Ricard. They’ve got a lot of the Ravens type offense that they had when Greg was there, and they’ve intermixed Kansas City type passing in there with Matt.

“They’ve got it going right now. They’ve got good wideouts, good tight ends, two good backs. The quarterback has come in, in a short period of time and really done a nice job, for them to get him for a sixth-round pick is a steal.”

McCarthy came in for a fifth-round pick, not a sixth-rounder, but the sentiment still stands. It seems that Fangio is well aware of how dangerous New York can be. For Philly, they have been utterly destroyed by injuries this season. A win against the Giants would be huge for them, but it is a daunting task.
