NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted searches at seven premises linked to Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amandeep Kaur Arora and her family in Punjab in connection with a money-laundering investigation into alleged fraudulent acquisition of government land and misappropriation of public funds.
Officials said the searches covered the residences of Arora, who represents Moga and heads the AAP women’s wing in Punjab, her family members, associates and others.
A de-addiction hospital associated with her husband, Dr Rakesh Arora, was also searched. Armed CRPF personnel accompanied the ED teams.
The investigation, registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), stems from a June 2024 FIR lodged by Punjab Police.
The FIR alleged fraudulent mutation of government land acquired for National Highway 754A and wrongful disbursement of compensation in Moga district.
Arora, a doctor and first-time MLA, has been renominated by AAP from the Moga constituency for the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for 2027.
The searches come months ahead of the Assembly elections.
