The police and district administrations have made elaborate security arrangements for the MPTC and ZPTC elections scheduled to be held in Kurnool, Nandyal and Kadapa districts on Thursday.

The arrangements follow incidents of violence reported during the municipal election process in several areas, including Kadapa and Rayachoti. Vehicles were set on fire during the nomination process, while polling agents were allegedly attacked at some places on polling day.

Against this backdrop, the authorities have identified sensitive areas and strengthened security across the three districts. Web cameras have been installed at sensitive polling stations to monitor the process and prevent untoward incidents. Additional police personnel have also been deployed at polling centres.

Police personnel have been instructed to remain alert and respond promptly to complaints or disturbances during polling.

Nandyal district collector G. Rajakumari said all arrangements had been completed to ensure free and peaceful polling. “We have issued clear instructions to the officials concerned and taken all necessary measures to ensure smooth polling. The administration is fully prepared to conduct the elections in a peaceful atmosphere,” she said.

Kadapa superintendent of police Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath said special attention was being paid to sensitive areas. “All precautionary measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incidents during polling. Adequate police personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations, and we will ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully,” he said.
