It was reported by Michael Scotto of Hoop Hype that the Cleveland Cavaliers will be signing 6’5″, 25-year-old forward Norchad Omier to a two-way contract.
It was originally reported that Omier had agreed to a two-way deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, however, Scotto reported that Omier has “changed his mind” and instead “plans to sign a two-way deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.”

This is certainly an unusual situation for obtaining a two-way deal, however, this presents the Cavaliers with another option for backup depth. Omier started last season with the Charge, before signing a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. Omier appeared in 38 G League games last season, averaging 18.3 points and 11.4 rebounds on .592/.291/.787 shooting splits.
Omier spent training camp with the Timberwolves. He played six preseason games with them this season, and averaged 1.8 points and 3.2 rebounds per preseason appearance.
It hasn’t been confirmed as of yet which of the Cavaliers current two-way players (Tristan Enaruna, Riley Minix or Ernest Udeh Jr) will be waived in order to complete this move. Two-way contracts are not guaranteed, which means the team can cut a player at any time without penalty.
Omier has some history with the Charge, in 2025-2026, Omier posted a 20 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game split over 20 regular-season contests. Obviously, both sides had interest in a reunion, and the question remained of which of the Cavaliers’ two-way options will be let go to make room for this transaction.
