Kurnool: Around 350 employees deployed for the MPTC and ZPTC elections in Yemmiganur constituency of Kurnool district staged a protest on Wednesday after food arrangements allegedly fell short of the number of personnel on duty.
The employees had reported for election duty and collected their polling material ahead of the November 5 elections.
When they went for lunch on Wednesday afternoon, they found that meals had been arranged for only 200 people, although around 350 staff members had been deployed.
The employees staged a protest by displaying empty plates and questioned the authorities over the arrangements.
Several personnel, including women employees, faced difficulties due to the shortage of food and lack of basic facilities.
Some employees, particularly those with diabetes, had to go outside to arrange their meals.
Employee R. Viswanath said around 150 personnel had been left without food despite being assigned election duties.
“It is very painful that employees who have been assigned important election responsibilities were told that food was not available for them.
When around 350 staff members were deployed, how could the authorities arrange meals for only 200 people?
Many women employees also suffered due to the lack of food and basic facilities,” he said.
