State Officials To Celebrate Diwali In Indiramma Houses

Addressing a media conference in Medchal-Malkajgiri district on Wednesday, Srinivas Reddy said the government had completed and handed over 2,21,500 houses to beneficiaries. Another 1.9 lakh houses sanctioned under the first phase were at various stages of construction. The first phase covers 4.50 lakh houses.

The minister said every lamp lit in an Indiramma house should symbolise the Congress government’s commitment to ensuring dignity and security for poor families. He unveiled a poster titled ‘Deepavali Celebrations in Our Indiramma House’ to mark the initiative and said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the state Cabinet would support the programme.

Srinivas Reddy said the government had sanctioned another 2.50 lakh houses under the second phase and one lakh houses in the Hyderabad Core Urban Region (CURE).

Indiramma Towers comprising G+5 structures would also be constructed in Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Nalgonda on the lines of the Hyderabad project. Notifications for the construction of these towers would be issued before Diwali, he said.

The minister said Bonalu celebrations would be held from the Hyderabad Indiramma Towers next year and added that the government was committed to implementing the Indiramma housing scheme at an estimated cost of `40,000 crore without interruption.

Financial assistance was being credited directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts every Monday to ensure transparency. He said houses were being constructed in urban and rural areas, including remote villages and tribal habitations.
