Nov. 4—CHAMPAIGN — Illinois forward Jake Davis had surgery Wednesday morning to address a left shoulder separation he suffered in the first half of Illinois’ season opener Monday night against Fairleigh Dickinson.
Davis was injured 9 minutes into Monday’s game after running into a screen. The 6-foot-6 senior forward immediately grasped his left shoulder and was helped to the locker room by athletic trainer Justin Games.

Illinois coach Brad Underwood said there was no definitive timetable for Davis’ return and the McCordsville, Ind., native would be out indefinitely. Underwood went on to say he’ll move forward preparing for both a return this season for Davis and the scenario where he misses the remainder of the 2026-27 campaign.
