The Brooklyn Nets should embrace their youth movement.

At this point, the Nets are relying on a pair of veterans to do most of the heavy lifting.

Julius Randle and Michael Porter Jr. usually have the ball in their hands on offense. Is that hurting other players’ development? Probably.

Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley argues that Brooklyn’s “biggest problem” is that other Nets are getting the touches they need to become reliable offensive contributors.

“Yet, their three minutes leaders are all in their age-27 seasons or older. Their offense runs first through 31-year-old Julius Randle and 28-year-old Michael Porter Jr.—two of the more logical trade candidates in the league.

“The developmental minutes and touches that could go to the young players are too often winding up with (arguably) veteran placeholders,” Buckley wrote.

Porter is averaging 20.7 points per game, and Randle leads the team with 20.9 points per game.

So far, their top two scoring threats haven’t been able to turn those productive scoring performances into wins.

“It might be one thing if this equated to a competitive formula for the club, but Brooklyn has one win in seven games and no discernible identity,” Buckley added.

Nets fans may have to buckle in for another disappointing year despite several roster upgrades, including rookie point guard Mikel Brown Jr.
