Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan were the latest guests to grace Karan Johar’s talk show, Koffee With Karan season 9. During various segments of the show, viewers got to see the couple’s witty side, and it was a treat to watch. But it was their revelation about the fatal night when Saif Ali Khan was stabbed that shocked many.
Kareena Kapoor recalls running like a mad woman on the road, trying to get a rickshaw
For the unversed, it was in January 2025 when an intruder barged into Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s home in Bandra. Though the actor managed to save his family, he was badly injured in the process. Saif fought with the intruder all alone and got stabbed six times. On their recent appearance on Koffee With Karan, Kareena recalled the night as she was screaming and running on the road to get help for her bleeding husband, Saif Ali Khan.
While recalling the horrific night, Saif joked about her appearance and how she ran outside in her night T-shirt. Speaking about the same, Kareena said:
“In my night T-shirt. Luckily, no one got that on video, Karan. I was screaming on the road. I was like, ‘Stop, stop.’ It was like a movie scene. I didn’t have the time to put on my pyjamas. I ran on the road. Nobody knows this. I am saying it for the first time. I was literally in my T-shirt, and I was running like a mad, crazy woman trying to get a rickshaw while he was bleeding.”

Going further in the conversation, Kareena revealed that the moment she saw wounded Saif in the lift, she completely lost it. Their son, Taimur, looked at him and asked him, ‘Abba, are you going to die?’ At that moment, Saif asked Kareena to take him to the hospital.
In the same conversation, Saif Ali Khan detailed his injuries and revealed that a broken knife was lodged in his back. Saif revealed how the weapon broke during the attack and said:
“They were quite deep and long, like jagged cuts all over here. It was the worst knife in the history of knives. If it had been a slightly good knife, I would be dead. But it was such a bad knife that it broke.”
Kareena said that the injury could have been fatal if the knife had gone one millimetre deeper. She also stated that the incident left a deep impact on her as she couldn’t sleep for six months after the attack. Saif also shared that he lost some sensation in his leg because the injury had affected his spine. According to the actor, the tension doubled as the whole incident unfolded in front of their children.
After the attack, Saif was rushed to the Lilawati Hospital and had to undergo an intense surgery as some stabs were close to his spine. A 2.5-inch piece of the blade was removed from his spine after a five-hour-long surgery. Saif also suffered a long cut on the right side of his neck, another cut on his right shoulder and a deep stab wound on the left side of his back.
