Nearly $1.5 million is up for grabs in the WON Cabo Tuna Jackpot competition, which began Thursday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
But giant yellowfin tuna have been in the spotlight for weeks off Cabo, and the most impressive catch appears to have been that of a 272-pound tuna boated Monday aboard the Bill Collector 4.
Amy Stoky with 272-pound yellowfin tuna.
“That’s a lot of sandwiches!” a Pisces Sportfishing Fleet follower joked on Facebook.

Florida’s Amy Stoky landed the “cow” tuna while on a family vacation. They are not entered in the Cabo Tuna Jackpot tournament.
But it’ll be interesting to see if any of the 138 teams can match or beat Stoky’s catch during the two-day event.
Yellowfin tuna catches weighing 200 pounds or more are often referred to as “cows,” and are somewhat rare. Catches weighing 300 pounds or more are called “super cows,” and are exceedingly rare.
The all-tackle world record stands at 443 pounds, for a yellowfin caught off Cabo San Lucas in November 2024.
