In all likelihood, you can cross Jacob Young off the list of center fielders who could be obtainable for the Yankees.
Young and the Nationals agreed on a four-year extension Friday, The Post’s Joel Sherman reported, which buys out his arbitration years and first year of free agency. The Nationals have committed to a 27-year-old with a solid glove at a premium position and who hits enough.
Add in that Young is a righty hitter, and that profile is likely what the Yankees will be seeking this offseason.
With Trent Grisham a free agent who is unlikely to return, the Yankees’ only true internal center field hope at the moment is Spencer Jones, whose bat emerged last season more than his glove. In center and in right, Jones often looked tentative and raw.
