“I’ve been coaching football for a long time and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen both teams play as well on either side,” Whiteford coach Todd Thieken said.

Brek Ruddy of Whiteford ran for 134 yards and two touchdowns and Eitniear finished with 107 yards on the ground and connected on 12-of-18 passes for 185 yards.

DIVISION 2

Grosse Pointe South 42, Bedford 0

GROSSE POINTE – Bedford was shut out for the first time since Oct. 24 of last season.

“It was rough,” Bedford coach Dave Mifsud said. “We moved the ball a lot in the first half, but we really shot ourselves in the foot with uncharacteristic mistakes. It really could have been a closer game at halftime and that would have taken the pressure off the defense.”

The Mules trailed 14-0 after one quarter and 27-0 at the half.

Bedford, which finishes at 8-3, got great performances on defense from Everett Wingate (11 tackles, 2 sacks), Jaxson Lestock (7 tackles) and Alex Maples (7 tackles).

Keagan Dixon led the offense with 68 rushing yards on 8 carries.

Livonia Franklin 17, Gibraltar Carlson 6

GIBRALTAR – Two interceptions and a fumble were costly for Gibraltar Carlson in a close game.

“It was a hard-fought game tonight against an evenly matched team,” Carlson coach Jason Gendron said. “Ultimately, we made too many mistakes and couldn’t finish, which ended our tournament run.”

Carlson’s only points came on an 8-yard pass from Austyn Lawrence to Adrian Blackmon in the fourth quarter.

The Marauders finish 10-1.

“I’m proud of how our players and coaches fought,” Gendron said. “It was another good season for the Marauders. A special thank you goes out to our seniors for everything they contributed to the program over their four years.”
