The next assignment for the Falcons (8-4) will be a semifinal game at home next Friday against Oxbridge Academy (9-3), whic defeated Glades Day, 22-21, in its quarterfinal game.

The Pirates (7-5) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on an 11-yard TD pass from junior Dylan Colontrelle to sophomore Chase Colontrelle before the Falcons scored 29 unanswered points.

Saint Stephen’s quarterback Steven LeBlanc (#11) gets through the Blazer defensive line and finds room to run on a quarterback keeper. The Sarasota Christian Blazers hosted the Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Falcons in varsity football Friday evening, Aug. 28, 2026.

The Saint Stephen’s defense slammed the door, forcing the Pirates to turn the ball over on downs four times in Saint Stephen’s territory, including three times inside the Falcons 10-yard line.

“That was really frustrating,” Pirates head coach Rich Schofield said. “I felt like our defense was out there a ton. We had opportunities to bail ourselves out, but we couldn’t execute it.

“Hats off to Saint Stephen’s. They had our number. They had a great game plan, especially when we got down there. That’s a really good football team.”

The Falcons also recovered two fumbles to stop potential St. Edwards’ scoring drives.

“Our defensive line really came off the ball,” Falcons head coach Chris Valcarcel said. “We went to a 5-man line and we were able to dominate. Our guys are playing lights-out on both sides of the line. We challenged them to get off the ball and help our secondary and they did.”

On the first play from scrimmage following the St. Edwards touchdown, Will Roseboro busted loose for a 65-yard scoring run to give the Falcons the lead for good.

The Falcons held a 15-6 lead at halftime after quarterback Steven LeBlanc scored on a 1-yard sneak. PAT holder Luke Ziegler ran it in for the 2-point conversion.

Saint Stephen’s made it 22-6 in the first minute of the second half on a 64-yard burst by freshman Dion Donkor. Donkor also scored on a 4-yard run early in the fourth period to produce the final score.

“I’m really proud of our guys,” Valcarcel said. “We’re peaking at the end of the season. We’re excited to be a part of this. They are really playing for each other and playing their hearts out.”

Jupiter Christian 35, Out-of-Door 12

Luke Beach caught two touchdown passes and threw for another as Jupiter Christian got past Out-of-Door Academy in the SSAA State Championship bracket quarterfinal.

The Thunder ventured deep into Eagles territory four times in the first half but came away empty each time and found themselves trailing 7-0 at the half.

On the first drive of the game Beach, who was filling in at quarterback in the first half, competed a 55-yard pass to eighth grader Lorenzo Walker and a 22-yard TD pass to Ryder Zuniga to give Jupiter Christian a quick 7-0 lead.

ODA got in the red zone twice on consecutive possessions, but an interception at the 3-yard line and a fumble at the 1-yard line kept the Thunder from scoring.

ODA got great field position to start the third quarter after recovering an onside kick but went nowhere and quarterback Jaxon Lawhun was intercepted by Zuniga, who returned the ball to the 18-yard line.

But three plays later, Beau Tack intercepted a pass to give the ball back to the Thunder. It didn’t last long as Beach picked off a Lawhun pass at the ODA 45.

Eagles starting quarterback Kane Navaroli, who sat out the first half for disciplinary reasons, entered the game in the third quarter and got the Jupiter offense in gear. Navaroli found Zuniga for 25 yards, then threw a 17-ard TD pass to Beach to make it 14-0 with 6:39 remaining in the third quarter.

ODA responded with a long scoring drive that ended with a 30-yard sweep by Jake Beasley to cut the lead to 14-6.

The Thunder then recovered their own onside kick and appeared to be gaining some momentum until Travis King picked off another pass and brought it back 80 yards for a score. Just seconds later, Navaroli and Beach teamed up on a 50-yard TD pass to give the Eagles a 28-6 lead after Beach caught a two-point conversion pass from Ethan Thomas.

Navaroli threw one more touchdown pass, a 10-yarder to Walker in the fourth quarter, before Beasley completed the scoring for the Thunder with a 4-yard touchdown run.

Navaroli was 6 for 8 for 152 yards and three TDs in the second half, but Jupiter coach Baz Alfred credited the defense for keeping the Thunder scoreless in the first half.

“I think defense played lights out,” Alfred said. “I think coach Dickens and his staff did a great job putting together the game plan and they executed it this week. We had some guys out suspended the first half, and they came in in the second half and did an amazing job, but they stuck with the game plan and did exactly what we wanted them to do.”

“We faced adversity all year,” Walker said. “Our quarterback went down in the first game of the season, then we had more players go down. We just kept it going, we worked all season since summer workouts and look what happened. We came out and did our job. We worked on red zone all day at practice and look, we get a fumble, we get stops at the goal line and we just go down and work. That’s Jupiter Christian football.”

ODA coach Robert Hollway was left to bemoan all the missed opportunities and mistakes in the first half as the Thunder were eliminated from the playoffs by Jupiter Christian for the third consecutive year.

“We needed to have our best game tonight and we didn’t have that,” Hollway said. “We turned the ball over too many times. They’re the defending state champions for a reason and hat’s off to a good football team. Their starting quarterback came back in the second half and he was the difference maker for them. They played better than us tonight.”

The Thunder concluded their season with an 8-3 record.
