When it comes to the ever-evolving world of fashion, one thing is certain: the only rule is that there are no rules. From bold statements to effortless elegance, personal style is all about breaking conventions, embracing individuality and having fun with what you wear. This year, Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI brought its signature glamour to New Delhi, with the capital turning into a buzzing hub of style, creativity and celebrity sightings.

Several familiar faces descended on the city to walk the runway and make their sartorial statements. We caught up with a few of them for a fun, free-wheeling chat about their personal style, go-to festive looks, favourite songs, fashion must-haves and much more. From wardrobe favourites to the little things that make them feel fabulous, they let us in on what fashion means to them, both on and off the runway.

If your wardrobe could reveal a secret about you what would it say?

It would say she’s so basic but with a little glitter. She tries.

We saw in your recent pictures on social media that you love the bedazzling trend, talk to us about that.

It’s actually a feeling, I don’t know how to explain it. I just get too excited about it, simply love it.

What’s the most irrational purchase you’ve done so far?

I got two jackets of the same colour without realising it. When I saw it in my wardrobe, I burst out laughing seeing two jackets of the same colour, fit and style.

Last time we met I asked you about a trend you’d dare to try, you said a pixie cut and then got one. So now, what’s next?

Well, I miss my long hair. So now I want my long hair back.

Your current favourite make up product?

Lakme 9To5 Hya Glam Face Palette.

One song that puts you in the right mood instantly?

Nobody’s Perfect from Hannah Montana.

Talk to us about your personal style?

I love things that are fluid yet structured. Something which is bright and colourful. And comfort obviously is key.

If your wardrobe could reveal a secret about you, what would it say?

That I put comfort over everything else.

If you could spend the rest of your life in one outfit, what would you wear?

Something extravagant, maybe an embellished lehenga. Because if I have to be in it forever, it better be amazing.

Your most irrational purchase?

I am mostly rational with my purchases but maybe the trips that I do can get in the way.

Your personal style is closest to which Bollywood character?

Ironically, Yalina from Dhurandhar.

A fashion rule you’d happily break?

I don’t think there are any rules in fashion.

Talk to us about your personal style?

I am very fluid as a person when it comes to life and style. So, fluid and versatile.

Movin’ to the sun by HUGEL

One thing you get nervous about before walking the ramp?

I read this beautiful thing on nervousness somewhere. It said that every time your heart beats fast, it means your body is cheering for you. So, every time I am nervous, I remember this and feel like doing
it even more. It makes it beautiful.

If there is one secret your wardrobe could reveal about you, what would it say?

I am still figuring out my personal style but I love fashion and I hope to keep enjoying it.

What’s the one thing you love about GenZ?

I love GenZ. I am GenZ. I actually love all generations, but most importantly people who are kind, generous and spread their light.

How many pairs of jeans do you own? Well, how many jeans are too many jeans?

If your wardrobe could reveal a secret about you what would it say?

It would talk about my denim fetish as it is very embarrassing. There are too many of the same colour and cut.

Your personal style is the closest to which Bollywood character?

There is something about Anushka Sharma’s character in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The Kohl and bohemian vibe is something I love.

Talk to us about your personal style?

My style is understated but classic. There always has to be something elevated, either a pair of shoes or a belt that brings the look together but usually it is very understated.

Har funn maula from Koi Jaane Na.

Who do you think is the most stylish in Bollywood?

I really love Malaika Arora’s sense of style. Apart from Malaika, I like Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s vintage style. Her ethnic game is also quite impressive.

If your wardrobe could reveal a secret about you, what would it say?

It would reveal my love for sarees. I have a lot of sarees and I finally got my blouses stitched and started wearing them. I feel happy and pretty in it.

How do you react to last minute outfit changes?

I freak out at first and then go and wing it.

If you could walk the ramp with someone from Bollywood, who would you pick?

I’d pick the one and only Shah Rukh Khan.

I do everything in front of them. I am me whenever I step out, so not much would change.

Three ways to style men’s festive wear?

Wear something that you’re confident in, wear the right cut and colour, it doesn’t matter if it is too formal or casual, if you’re able to own it and pull it off effortlessly, then go for it.

If your wardrobe could reveal a secret about you, what would it say?

My wardrobe has clothes that I have worn for the last fifteen years. So my style evolution is something it would tell you about. From colours and gold and silver to minimal linen looks.

Easiest way to amp up a look?

Stick to the basics, a great watch, a good pair of sneakers, have a bounce in your walk and make it yours.

What’s the one thing you notice in a piece of clothing before buying it?

I check a few colours that look good on me. I don’t experiment with bright colours anymore; I used to do that before.

Learnt? I am a millennial and I love our generation. Though I love the next generation of designers who have brought so much comfort, chicness and modernity to their designs.

If your wardrobe could reveal a secret about you, what would it say?

That I am lazy. My everyday outfits don’t reflect effort.

One thing you’ve learnt from Karan Kundra about fashion?

The first thing is to start. So, I started taking keen interest in fashion after meeting him. Also, I feel a good outfit does give you confidence, so that’s something that I have learnt. You do feel a certain way when you know you look stunning.

You feel sexy in…

In a well-fitted pair of denims, heels and a bodysuit.
