Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday slammed the former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for neglecting the Palamuru region during the BRS regime.

He was speaking after inaugurating rythu mela and industrial expo at Kodangal. He said KCR failed to render justice to the region in agriculture and industrial sectors and alleged that despite a Telangana budget with over Rs.20 lakh crore in ten years, the key irrigation projects including Bheema and Palamuru were not completed.

The SLBC and Sitarama projects were neglected by allocating huge funds for only Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, leaving aside the Pranahita-Chevella project.

Revanth Reddy said that the Congress leader Sonia Gandhi fulfilled the aspiration of the people with the formation of Telangana state. He alleged that KCR had been expected to do justice to the Palamuru region after the formation of the state, but he neglected it and failed to complete the key irrigation projects.

He criticized the Centre for setting aside the Kaleshwaram project, which was expected to be completed at a cost of Rs.38,000 crore. He said that the estimated cost of Kaleshwaram was increased from Rs.38,000 crore to around Rs 1.5 lakh crore, and that the project, which was built at such a huge cost, was damaged in just three years.

Revanth Reddy criticized the BRS leaders for speaking without knowing the facts related to the Medigadda barrage issue. He said that Kannepalli pumps were not working due to the damage to the Medigadda Barrage. He said that precautions were also needed regarding the maintenance of the gates of Annaram and Sundilla barrages.

He said that if the SLBC project is completed, there is a possibility of providing water to Nalgonda. He said that there is also a possibility of water supply from the Sitarama project. He said that many areas in Telangana were currently receiving irrigation water due to the projects built during the YS Rajasekhara Reddy regime.

Revanth Reddy said that the effect of El Nino is present across the country and water levels in projects have decreased in Telangana as well.

He challenged the BRS leaders to come to the Assembly to discuss this issue and made it clear that they were ready to discuss the issue of lands in the Assembly.

He alleged that the rulers had neglected the Palamuru region in the past and that this region had been subjected to immense injustice. He said that the work on the Maktal-Kodangal lift irrigation scheme is currently progressing rapidly.
