Rodrigo Muniz struck just three minutes after Jacob Murphy’s spectacular opener as Fulham and Newcastle shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage.
Fulham started brightly, with Oscar Bobb forcing Newcastle goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek into an early save before Gonzalo Garcia headed over from a corner.
Newcastle responded through Harvey Barnes, who was twice denied by Bernd Leno, including an extraordinary save with his head when the winger was through on goal.
Dan Burn thought he had given the visitors the lead in the 33rd minute, but his close-range finish was disallowed after Yoane Wissa was penalised for pulling Timothy Castagne’s shirt.
Josh King then tested Hornicek as the sides entered half-time level.

The second half remained closely contested, with Sander Berge dragging an effort narrowly wide before Wissa struck the side-netting from a tight angle.
Newcastle finally broke through in the 80th minute when Murphy intercepted Berge’s misplaced pass, cut inside Calvin Bassey and curled a superb left-footed effort into the top corner.
However, Fulham responded almost immediately.
Cesar Palacios delivered a cross from the left in the 83rd minute, and substitute Muniz reacted quickest to turn the ball home.
Both goalkeepers produced excellent late saves, with Leno denying Lewis Hall before Hornicek brilliantly tipped Ryan Sessegnon’s powerful strike wide in stoppage time.
